Auburn University College of Education Preview Day

US Senate Youth Program $10,000 (Juniors and Seniors)

Please see Ms. Cochran if you are interested. The United States Senate Youth Program, established in 1962 by U.S. Senate Resolution, is a unique educational experience for outstanding high school students interested in pursuing careers in public service. The 58th annual program will be held in Washington, D.C., from  March 7 â€“ 14, 2020. Two student leaders from each state, the District of Columbia and the Department of Defense Education Activity will spend a week in Washington experiencing their national government in action. Student delegates will hear major policy addresses by senators, cabinet members, officials from the Departments of State and Defense and directors of other federal agencies, as well as participate in meetings with the president and a justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. ACT Prep Materials and the Ultimate Scholarship Guide

Christmas came early to the Counseling Office!  I currently have two new copies of ACT prep that students can check out of my office.  In addition to ACT Prep - I have an up-to-date copy of the Ultimate Scholarship Book.  This book DOES NOT leave my office - but it is on the table in my outer office as a reference tool.  Feel free to come by and check it out.  You will be able to use your phone to take pictures of pages so you can work on scholarships at home or you can bring a computer by when you have free time to apply for scholarships.  :)

Shorter University Preview Day

From Shorter Admissions: We are having our  First Preview Day  on  September 6 th . This event will include a campus tour, Financial Aid & Admissions Sessions, and much more! It is a great chance for students (of any grade) to experience life on the Hill! If students are interested in attending, please have them go to our  visit.shorter.edu  to register!

UA Early College Opportunity

High school students can earn up to  30 credit hours , online or on campus. 24/7 access  to classes for flexibility around busy schedules.  Credits transfer  to most colleges nationwide. Strong UA  support system  for academic success. ALET Scholarship - $10,000

Each year the Alabama Leaders in Educational Technology awards a $10,000 college scholarship to a high school senior in honor of an Auburn City Schools Technology Coordinator who passed away in 2014. The Debbie Rice Scholarship for $10,000 is now available for your senior students.   Students must attend an accredited Alabama high school and must attend an Alabama college.  Applications are now being taken and are available on the website:  https://go-alet.org/ scholarship/ .  Applications must be postmarked by November 2nd - regular mail only. 

TRIO Upward Bound at the University of Montevallo (Gr 9 and 10)

Upward Bound visited our 9th grade students today.  They are looking for 9th and 10th graders who would like to participate in their program.  Please see the attached flyer and video for more information.  Additional packets are available in the counseling office.   Packets are due back to me on Tuesday, August 27th.

ASU Information

From Ms. Boswell - ASU Admissions! SOME IMPORTANT DATES: ASU Connection  Day  is October 5th, 2019. This is a day where we invite all surrounding High Schools to come for a day of visiting our campus, meeting, the Colleges and organizations we have, and free admission into our football game.  Scholarships  open up in October. This is a separate online free application.   

Dual Enrollment Orientation and Start Date

Dual Enrollment Orientation at Jeff State will be on Wednesday, August 14th at 7:45 AM. This orientation is geared towards NEW students - returning do not have to attend.  Start date for students who are taking on campus Dual Enrollment is August 19th.  :) Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!
