FAFSA Video and Important Information

This is a new video from Alabama Possible to help with FAFSA Completion.  The first part is more for school staff.  If you fast forward to the 3.30" mark - you will begin the section on the FAFSA.

Don't forget that the window to begin the FAFSA starts Oct 1.  They will be looking at tax returns and assets from the 2018 tax year.

FSA IDs
Now is the time for your students to create their FSA IDs. By creating the FSA IDs now, you are preparing your students to complete the FAFSA when the portal opens on October 1. Students and families can create their FSA IDs here: https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm 

Gathering Documents
You will need several important documents and pieces of information to complete the FAFSA. Before the FAFSA portal opens on October 1, go ahead and collect the following documents: 
  • Student's Social Security Number or Alien Registration Number 
  • Dates of Birth for student and parents/guardians 
  • Parent's Social Security Number (if student is dependent) 
  • Prior-Prior Year Tax Returns 
  • Records of untaxed income 
  • Benefits like Social Security, Disability, SNAP, TANF, etc. 
  • Information on cash, savings and checking account balances, real estate assets (not including home)

Completing the FAFSA
The most common way to complete the FAFSA is online at fafsa.gov. Students can login and complete the FAFSA for the 2020-2021 school year beginning next Tuesday, October 1

Additional Auburn Admissions Information

The Auburn University fall 2021 admissions application is open! Here are a few things you should know: Auburn University has joined the Common Application. Auburn University launches the Common Application on Monday, August 17. (The Auburn University freshman admissions application opened on our website August 15). Our process is flexible. Applicants will receive a holistic review and be evaluated with the either a test score or another supplemental component. If applicants have tested and feel the score will be a positive supplement to their application, they may submit it as their supplemental document.
