Auburn Admission Application Changes

Auburn’s freshman application opened on August 15 th.   Because of the  significant increase in admissions applications, we adjusted the time line to accommodate for reading and additional decision rounds.    The first round of admissions decisions will be officially released Wednesday, October 23.   This initial round of decisions will include acceptance, deferred to regular decision and denied.  Decisions  will be available on our  Applicant Status page , letters will go out in the mail for Accepted students by the end of the week.  The Fall 2020 Scholarship application will open as admissions decisions are released. Housing will open in December.  Please use the attached Auburn University Admissions FAQs to assist you with questions you and your students may have.  As a reminder, our Admissions Advisors are happy to assist, too. Thanks to  College Application Week , high school students in Alabama can apply to college for free! College Application Week is a part of Alabama Possible and the Alabama State Department of Education’s  Alabama College Campaign , which encourages students across Alabama to pursue their education after high school. Alabama high school seniors can apply to colleges for free during College Application Week . Need Based Full Tuition Scholarship - UA

New Need-Based Scholarship Eliminates Tuition Costs for Qualifying Students The NEW Alabama Advantage Scholarship ensures fully covered tuition costs for promising Alabama residents. Students must be admitted to The University of Alabama unconditionally before December 15 and be full Pell Grant eligible. The Alabama Advantage Scholarship covers all remaining in-state tuition costs after federal/state grant funding. To take advantage of this opportunity, students can apply to UA now, submit their official high school transcript and test scores, and submit a FAFSA application ASAP. Mercedes-Benz information session - Oct 22nd

Shelton State Community College and Mercedes-Benz US International, Inc., will host an information session at Thompson High School on Tuesday, October 22 at 6:00pm. The event will be held in the Performing Arts Center on the THS Campus. Shelton State representatives will be available to answer questions and provide information on admissions and financial aid options. Representatives from Mercedes-Benz will also be on hand to discuss program opportunities with this world-class automobile manufacturer. Students and parents from Shelby County and surrounding areas are invited to attend. Hagan Scholarship

A student from Isabella received this last year! The Hagan Scholarship The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship for high achieving, self-motivated students. The scholarship provides up to $6,000 each semester, for up to eight consecutive semesters, to help recipients graduate college debt free. Over Eight Hundred Hagan Scholars from 42 states are currently attending  325 colleges and universities . Recipients must graduate from a public high school located in a county having fewer than 50,000 residents and enroll at a four-year not-for-profit college or university the first semester following high school graduation. Scholarship benefits include Free  Workshops ,  Schwab Accounts , and  Study Abroad;  providing recipients with a practical understanding of important life skills not typically taught as a part of the school curriculum.  https://haganscholarships.org/application/  . Lake Mitchell HOBO Scholarship (LOCAL)

We at Lake Mitchell HOBO are excited about offering scholarships for the 12th year! We are planning to offer two scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each to students in Chilton and/or Coosa County.  This information concerning the requirements and the application form can be found on our website at http://www.lakemitchellhobo. org/scholarships.html The Lake Mitchell HOBO Clean-up is Saturday, October 26th. Linly Heflin Scholarship ($7,000 per year)

The Linly Heflin Unit  2020-2021 Scholarship Application The Linly Heflin Unit grants scholarships for up to four years in the amount of $7,000 per year to a limited number of applicants who have both economic needs and proven academic records. Scholarships are restricted to Alabama women who are United States citizens attending four-year Alabama colleges or universities.  This application form with supporting documentation must be completed by  December  31, 2019 . Gen Kelley Scholarship

About the Scholarship Program For many students the biggest obstacle to a higher education is money. The Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship Program aims to help remove this obstacle by providing deserving students of all ages with scholarships that can be used to pay for college or graduate school. The first scholarship was awarded in 2001 and since then the scholarship program has been awarding money to help students pay for school. The Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship is a merit-based program which means financial need is not considered. The selection of the winner is made by an independent panel of judges and is based primarily on the quality of the submitted personal statement. Past academic performance (e.g. grades and standardized test scores) are not considered.
