Greetings from Southern Miss!
I hope all is well with you and this finds you healthy! I wanted to reach out virtually to touch base with you at the start of what is sure to be an unconventional fall.
We realize that the current state of things is not conducive to the normal schedule of college fairs and visits to your campus, and we may have to get creative in order to give your students access to information about Southern Miss. If you have plans or any ideas about alternatives to college fairs and in-person visits, we are definitely interested in knowing those and partnering with you so that we can serve your interested students. For instance, our admissions counselors would be happy to connect with your students virtually (Zoom, Skype, etc.), and we could likely facilitate similar virtual interactions with other Southern Miss representatives if there are certain areas or topics that your students want to know about (for example, the Honors College, housing and scholarships, etc.).
Lastly, I wanted to share a few important things about what Southern Miss is doing for prospective students this fall!
All of our 2021 freshman materials are available in a digital format, on which you can find our Senior Year Timeline, which is a thorough walk-through of the important dates and steps that the Class of 2021 should be mindful of in the months ahead.
The Office of Admission continues to offer students safe and healthy ways to visit campus. The most current information about virtual admissions appointments and the availability of in-person campus tours can be found here. (Saturday tours will be available soon!)
Information about our generous freshman scholarship opportunities starting at a 21 ACT and 3.0 core GPA can be found here, and all of our ACT/GPA levels remain the same for this cycle. As a reminder, students must be admitted by the deadline of December 1 in order to receive freshman scholarship consideration.
We are in the planning stages for virtual events featuring our academic programs, student life, and networking with successful Southern Miss alumni. These events will take place this fall, and your students will definitely find these helpful and informative. More information about these events will be available soon!
