Auburn First Dual Enrollment/UA Early College

Auburn University is excited to share that we have launched our new dual enrollment program, Auburn First.  Auburn First was developed to provide Alabama residents with more opportunities to earn college coursework while at Thorsby High School. The Auburn First program features the following:

1.    PATHWAY INTO AUBURN
  • Students must have a minimum 21 ACT and 3.0 high school grade point average
  • Support from a high school official is required
  • Auburn First students who earn a minimum cumulative unadjusted Auburn GPA of 3.0 in 12 hours of approved Auburn First coursework are eligible for automatic admission into Auburn upon graduating from high school
2.    CREDIT AT A REDUCED COST
  • In-state flat rate of $550 per course
  • Dual college and high school credit for approved courses
  • Course list will continue to increase each term
3.    INTENTIONAL STUDENT SUPPORT
  • Student Success Coordinator has regular communication with students, faculty, and high school counselors
  • Our Auburn First Instruction Team has worked with instructional designers to create optimally engaging online courses
  • Current Auburn students are available to provide tutoring both online and at your school for those in close proximity
UA EARLY COLLEGE

Why Choose UA Early College?

With UA Early College, you get ahead with college courses from a top-50 research university, while you are still in high school. You are surrounded by a support network whether you take courses online or on campus. Peer coaches are full-time UA students who mentor and guide you in the transition to college study. Your classes are taught by student-centered UA faculty. Academic advisors help you decide which courses are right for you.
  • You can earn up to 30 hours of college credit, online or on campus.
  • You can potentially receive both high school and college credit (dual credit) by taking UA Early College courses and get ahead without doubling your course work. You choose flexible course options; online 24/7 or on campus during the summer.

  • You use vibrant technology that includes video, podcast, web-conferencing, wiki, group projects, interactive modules, and discussion boards.
  • You still enter The University of Alabama as a freshman, still eligible for freshman scholarships and Honors College, even if you have Advanced Placement (AP) credit.
  • Your credit transfers broadly to colleges and universities nationwide.
  • You are eligible for special UA benefits: Priority housing for entering freshmen at UA (when you earn 17 or more hours of credit with 2.5+ GPA by December of your senior year of high school).
  • You can be admitted through UA Undergraduate Admissions without submitting SAT or ACT scores (when you earn 17 or more hours of credit with 2.5+ GPA by the summer following high school graduation).

Additional Auburn Admissions Information

The Auburn University fall 2021 admissions application is open! Here are a few things you should know: Auburn University has joined the Common Application. Auburn University launches the Common Application on Monday, August 17. (The Auburn University freshman admissions application opened on our website August 15). Our process is flexible. Applicants will receive a holistic review and be evaluated with the either a test score or another supplemental component. If applicants have tested and feel the score will be a positive supplement to their application, they may submit it as their supplemental document. If applicants do not have ACT or SAT scores to send to Auburn University, their admissions application will not be penalized. Applicants will choose one supplemental document for review.
